Applies to:

Oracle FS1-2 Flash Storage System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The time shown in FS System Manager GUI is different when compared to fscli utility depending on the time zone.

Cause

The fscli utility and Pilot are presented in Coordinated Universal Time or UTC.  Whereas the GUI uses the time zone in which it is launched from.

Solution

FS1-2 GUI utilizes the time zone of the host it is run from and then automatically adjusts the UTC to that time zone:

Date : Thursday, March 1, 2018
Time : 1:34:42 PM IST

Whereas the fscli utility shows time without this conversion:

# fscli time -list -details
DateTime : 2018-03-01T08:03:40.645+00:00

The Pilots also display UTC:

[root@pilot2 ~]# date
Thu Mar 1 08:03:40 UTC 2018

In the above examples, adding 5:30 to UTC produces the proper time in the India time zone (IST)

NOTE: Never manually change the Timezone on the Pilot itself as this will cause problems including software update failures.
