Symptoms

Library Error Code 1320 - Drive Communication Timeout Errors

Library Error Code 5025 - FSC reported with announce drive reset

Changes

Cause

 T10000 Drive SNO

Solution

SL8500 Code starting at 8.60 and SL3000 Code starting at 4.50 will list T10K drive SNO’s in the library error log in event 5025, example FFFA is the drive SNO FSC

2018-01-26T12:05:49.304,   3.2.1.1.2,   root,   default,   internal,   0,   error,   5025,   "FSC reported with announce drive reset FSC = FFFA"

Non-recoverable SNOs – these SNOs will cause the drive to go into service mode and will no longer mount tapes, the drive must be replaced.

3F2E - occurs on unload. No further mounts are allowed. Drive is shown as inop in the logsnap. This FSC cut in at code versions T10KD 4.12.106 or higher and T10KC 3.63.101.

3F21 - occurs while using the drive. No further mounts are allowed. Drive is shown as inop in the logsnap. This FSC cut in at code versions T10KD 4.11.111 and T10KC 3.62.111.

0000 – occurs if a drive SNOs with a 3F2E or a 3F21 error and then further tapes are mounted in the drive. This is a code bug that will be fixed in future code for T10KC/D drives.

590F, 5911, 550C, and 550D -  Reel Motor problems. Perm or SNO(where no further mounts are allowed) depending on the drive firmware. This FSCs became a SNO with T10KD 4.13.101 and T10KC 3.64.101.

Recoverable SNOs – these errors will SNO the drive but it will recover and come back into online status.

Example recoverable SNOs:

2B31 - Attempted to return a command frame that was already free.

3F24 - Accumulation mode error recovery made negative progress.

3001 - DS did not give async msg within 1 second.

Note; all recoverable SNO’s should be investigated, retrieve a drive log and look for a SNO in the event log or obtain a current SNO dump where the dump matches the timestamp of the failure.

It is recommended to look at the SPLAT support annotations for any SNO FSC.
