Symptoms

Cisco switch 93108 uplink connection to Cisco N2K FEX getting disabled.

N2K %ETHPORT-5-IF_DOWN_ERROR_DISABLED: Interface Ethernet123/1/28 is down (Error disabled. Reason:BPDUGuard)

Changes

Cause

The Nexus 2K is a FEX and should only be connected to hosts and not switches. The FEX can not disable bpdu guard by design and will disable a port if it receives an STP BPDU.

Solution

Connect the Oracle provided 93108 Management switch directly to the customer N5K.
