Symptoms

Old alert and faults reappear after being cleared (Bug 26286877).

Changes

The agent was upgraded to 13.2 and the plugin to 2.2.1 or later.

Cause

The plugin stores alert and fault time stamps for each storage node in a local properties file. This properties file is edited when the plugin runs one of its programs to collect information from the appliance. If two or more programs run at the same time for a storage node it is possible that they can edit the file at the same time causing file corruption. The result is the log collection program is not able to read its last time stamp and will therefore re-send all alerts or faults from the appliance log.

Solution

The local property file corruption issue has been addressed with the following patch.

Steps for Plugin Version 13.2.4.0.0

  1. Choose and download the Oracle_Grid.jar from this knowledge document which corresponds to the version of the ZFS Storage Appliance Enterprise Manager Plugin installed on your system 13.2.4.0.0.
  2. Locate the Oracle_Grid.jar in your agent(s).  Usually, it is located here:
    <AGENT_HOME>/plugins/oracle.sun.oss7.agent.plugin_13.2.4.0.0/scripts/emx/sun_storage_7000/
  3. Stop the agent(s) using EMCTL commands or by using the Enterprise Manager UI.
For example, go to <AGENT_HOME>/bin and run the command:  ./emctl stop agent
  4. Backup your Oracle_Grid.jar as Oracle.Grid.jar.bak.
  5. Replace / Swap the Oracle_Grid.jar, in ALL your agents (that monitor the ZFS-SA), with the one provided in this knowledge document.
Important: you need to swap the jar file in all the agents.
  6. Start the agent(s).
For example, go to <AGENT_HOME>/bin and run the command:  ./emctl start agent

Now you should be able to see the status of and monitor the ZFS Storage Appliance Targets the same way as earlier.
