Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Slow data merge/replication/transfer between servers in DSR.  Enclosure switch port counters show elevated Errors RX against port 17.

Cause

Port 17 from enclosure suggests it is a cable, SFP module, or peer port that may be introducing errors.
A bad cable or cable contacts can introduce transport errors in the segment, registering at one or both interfaces on the cable terminations.

Solution

Troubleshooting steps:
- replace cable
- replace SFP module, if in use
- check far-end counters/stats and duplex state
- replace far-end terminal equipment
- move to a different port, on near and/or far end

If these suggestions fail to resolve the condition, open an SR and provide a network diagram and a capture 'show tech all' (or 'show tech' if Cisco) from the switch.
