StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

This server has an SL150 and currently has an LTO5 drive that it uses. I have added an LTO7 to the server and I can see the access path of the LTO5 but not the LTO7.

The HBA card is a QLogic dual port 8GB
Manufacturer: QLogic Corp.
Model: 371-4325-02
Firmware Version: 5.08.00
FCode/BIOS Version: BIOS: 2.02; fcode: 2.03; EFI: 2.01;

Firmware is 5.08.00 and I had the local contact change to a different port on the FC and still I get the same issue where the LTO7 is seen by the OS but Not given the correct access path.

Symptoms

Server sees the LTO7 tape drive but is not giving it a proper access path.

Cause

 Defective Bridge Drive.

Solution

Customer swapped drive to different location with the same results following the drive.

Replace defective tape drive.
