Symptoms

There are three possible symptoms:

- SLS6884E STORMNGR:RDCVLE01 SMC comms error:UUI Call failed RC=8 Reason=000001AC

- Slow or poor response times to 'D MVCP' (Display MVC Pool) commands - may require up to 5 minutes for a response instead of less than a minute.

- Potential failure when creating VTV scratch pool.

The symptoms listed above can be seen on large multi-node VLEs containing very large quantities of small VTVs.

Changes

Code upgrade from a lower release of VLE code to any of the following VLE code releases:
- VLE 1.5.2.A1
- VLE 1.5.3
- VLE 1.5.3.A1

Cause

Code levels referenced above perform UUI debug processing even when debug is not turned on. This is transparent on most commands but on commands that return a lot of UUI data to the host it can lower response times and in some cases cause the host to close the connection due to a timeout. The timeout generates the SLS6884E SMC comms error.

Solution

Upgrade to VLE 1.5.3.A2.

The 1.5.3 patch A2 release date is scheduled for end of calendar year, 2017.
