Applies to:

Big Data Appliance X6-2 Hardware - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.5.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

In Cloudera Manager one host raises an error like:

“[30/Oct/2017 02:37:22 +0000] 39712 Metadata-Plugin throttling_logger ERROR (1331 skipped) Unable to send message to metadata server.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib64/cmf/agent/build/env/lib/python2.6/site-packages/cmf-5.11.1-py2.6.egg/cmf/audit/navigator_sender.py", line 151, in _send_json_data elif isinstance(e.reason, socket.timeout):
AttributeError: 'HTTPError' object has no attribute 'reason'

Cause

The “object has no attribute 'reason'” message in the error above indicates that Navigator services need to be restarted in Cloudera Manager.

Solution

To resolve try restarting both the Navigator Audit Server and Navigator Metadata Server.

To do so navigate in Cloudera Manager::

1. Home > mgmt > Instances > Navigator Audit Server > Actions for Selected > Restart
2. Home > mgmt > Instances > Navigator Metadata Server > Actions for Selected > Restart

If the problem is not resolved, open an SR with Oracle Support.
