Business Impact
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Production instance.
The library is not recording backups.
The Customer has upgraded the Firmware code to 0300 and tried rebooting the library. However, issue still persists.

Symptoms

The Web BUI shows alert message :

The Library was mounting a Tape (78 hours ago).
There is a second process, that is a "restart of the Library (more than 50 hours) "

Fault code 9030
Drive cleaning.

Cause

Possible Causes :

-- Robot assembly could be stuck and not moving.
-- Obstructions on the robotic path.

-- Robot assembly could be faulty.


 
Admin " Restarting the library " More than 50 hours
Host " The library was mounting a tape " 78 hours

Web GUI activity alert

Front operator panel shows " parking the robot " for a long time.

Operator panel shows Parking the robot and the time elapsed 22 Mins, The process did not complete
 

Solution

-- Powered DOWN the library through Web BUI console. It took long time. however, the process didn't complete.

-- The library is unresponsive. Unable to perform any backups / Robot is also not moving.
-- Performed hard reboot, by pressing power button OFF. However, it is failed. The front operator panel displays " parking the robot ... "

Action Plan :

Step :1

-- Removed all the modules power cables and re-seated it.
-- The library started initializing and robot moves UP and DOWN.
-- The library came back online and ready after inventory.

Step : 2

-- The auto-clean option was not enabled, so the library reported " degraded " for the drive cleaning request.
-- Cleaned the drive manually by moving cleaning media through Web GUI.
-- Drive cleaning completed successful, the library came back online and shows operational.
-- Configured the auto-clean option in Web GUI.
-- The library firmware still shown 0250. As we have done hard reboot, the previous firmware code didn't get activated.

Step : 3

-- Once again upgraded the firmware code to 0300.
-- Activated the code.
-- Rebooted the library.
-- The library came back online and operational.

The Customer performed backups and it was successful.
