Applies to:

StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and later
HP LTO6 Tape Drive - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
The customer reports it appears that the offending drive caused the entire partition and all the drives in the partition to become unavailable and the partition itself was unusable. The partition had to be recreated.

Symptoms

1. Top drive in Module 4 has failed to unload the tape 101999L6 and move it to module 6.
2. Error "source drive requested is not configured".
3. Error "mailslot failed to pop open".

Cause

The problem started with one drive failing to unload (HP LTO6 module 4).  All the drives in the same partition became unavailable to the backup server/media. The customer recovered the partition but one drive remained with a tape stuck in it, which could not be recovered after POR etc.

One Partition in Library hang - SL150

Solution

Partition was recovered by the customer but the drive was still inoperative until a Library reboot.

Tape drive back online after a library reboot from the WEB GUI..
