Symptoms

Monitoring credential failure and inability to monitor ZFS Storage Appliances in Enterprises Manager Cloud Control 13c release 2 with plugin version v3.0 (13.2.3.0.0).

Changes

Occurs when ZFS Storage Appliance is upgraded to OS 8.7.4 (AK/generic@2013.06.05.7.4,1-1.1), OS 8.7.7 (AK/generic@2013.06.05.7.7,1-1.1) or later releases.

Cause

Due to changes introduced in XML-RPC authentication in ZFS-SA OS8.7.4, the Enterprise Manager plugin is incorrectly showing the credential status of ZFS Storage Appliances and unable to collect alerts.

Solution

This patch is based on plugin v3.0 (13.2.3.0.0).

If customer's current plugin is on v2.2 (13.2.1.0.0), v2.2.1 (13.2.2.0.0), please upgrade the plugin to v.3.0 (13.2.3.0.0) and apply this patch.

Notes:
If customer is using EM 12c or EM 13c release 2 with plugin v2.1 (12.1.0.6.0) or v2.1.3 (12.1.0.7.0) and seeing this problem with ZFS appliance AK 8.7.4 or beyond, please refer to MOS note ID: 2288346.1

Steps to be followed for Plugin v3.0 (13.2.3.0.0.opar) -

1)  Download the Oracle_Grid.jar from this MOS Note

2)  Locate the Oracle_Grid.jar in your agent(s).
        For v3.0 (13.2.3.0.0) :  <agent_home>/plugins/oracle.sun.oss7.agent.plugin_13.2.3.0.0/scripts/emx/sun_storage_7000/
3)  Stop the agent(s).
Using EMCTL commands or using the Enterprise Manager UI.
E.g. Go to <AGENT_HOME>/bin and run command:  ./emctl stop agent

4)  Backup your Oracle_Grid.jar as Oracle.Grid.jar.bak

5)  Replace / Swap the Oracle_Grid.jar, in ALL the agents that monitor the ZFSSA, with the one provided in this MOS Note.

6)  Start the agent(s).
E.g. Go to <AGENT_HOME>/bin and run command: ./emctl start agent

Now customer should be able to see the status of and monitor the ZFS Storage Appliance Targets the same way as earlier.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1) After the jar replacement, the Enterprise Manager Plugins Target's home page might display blank or home page charts might generate errors about meta version 1X.XX, in that case, you will need to restart the OMS. Follow the steps below -
      a)  Go to <AGENT_HOME>/bin and run command :  ./emctl stop agent
      b)  Go to <OMS_HOME>/bin and run command  :    ./emctl stop oms
      c)  Go to <OMS_HOME>/bin and run command  :    ./emctl start oms

d)  Go to <AGENT_HOME>/bin and run command : ./emctl start agent

2) Download link to Oracle Enterprise Manager Plug-in for Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance - https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/zfs-storage-plugin-487867.html
