Symptoms

 Unable to communicate on the data path if direct attached to a VSM5.

Changes

 Possible code upgrade to 4.12.106 brings out the problem.

Cause

 Timing issue in the drive code can caused the data path communication to fail if the drive is direct attached to VSM5 and set for auto-negotiate. Switch attached drives do not have this issue.

Solution

The solution is to hard set the drive for 4 Gb transfer rate using VOP.
