Snapshots are too big

Cause of the problem seems to be Bug 26440553 - NDMP backup failed with 64bit timestamp file 2038 year.

The NDMP headers do not accept the 64bit timestamps causing those error messages "Value too large for defined data type".

The ZFS filesystem has a 64bit timestamp from 2013.1.7.0 (BUG 23048808 - Backport 17170985 to ak-2013 - ZFS not supporting dates greater than 2038).

Solution

Solution was to delete those files that could not be backed up - so that the NDMP backup can complete.
