Symptoms

After an upgrade to 8.7.x code the appliance fails to reach the BUI / CLI after reboot.

Cause

There is a known issue upgrading to a AK 8.7.x release on 7x20 hardware that was originally installed with older 2010 software if Kerberos has never been used prior to the upgrade -

Bug 25870599 - akd fails to start on 8.7 upgrade due to missing krb5.conf

NOTE: This only effects 7120 / 7320 / 7420 appliances as newer hardware did not come installed with 2010 based AK software.

Solution

Upgarde to Appliance Release version OS 8.7.12 (or later).
