Sun StorageTek T10000 Tape Drive - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This problem affects both SL8500 and SL3000. If the drive is powered off using the CLI command the following symptoms will be observed:

Cause

One possible cause is that the drive tray was powered off using a CLI command. Some customers will power off the tray using CLI if a drive has a problem. In 1 case a drive was replaced but the SLC status showed "Drive Not Powered" status and would not come online to the application.

Solution

Ensure that the drive tray is powered on from SLConsole. This can affect HBD and possibly LOD trays.

You will need a network connection into the library. The customer should be able to SSH into the library. The FE can connect to the library with their laptop to obtain a CLI connection.

Use the Drive Power CLI command to ensure the drive tray is powered on.

syntax:

drive power on | off <drive address>

 example: drive power on 1,4,2,1,3

Check the drive status
