Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 7.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In preparing for software upgrade, the error "[Error Code 251]-Failed to transfer" appears when attempting to perform a bulk deploy of the software ISO from the Active NOAM's Administration -> Software Management -> ISO Deployment screen.

Changes

Many hosts are chosen to receive the ISO file from the transfer action at the same time.

Cause

The ability of the NOAM to send the ISO concurrently to many target DSR host servers is limited by the bandwidth available on the network between the NOAM and the servers.  The cause of the issue in this episode is that too many target servers were selected to receive the ISO in the same transfer action.

Solution

Reduce the number of concurrent DSR hosts receiving the ISO in any single transfer action or simultaneous actions.  It is generally recommended to limit the action to one target site (e.g. under a shared SOAM) at a time for each transfer, and await its conclusion before attempting another transfer.  Depending on the capability of the management network (XMI), further reduction in number may be required in some instances.
