Symptoms

SL150 - The WWNs of the Tape Drives Will Not Be Correct for SL150 Libraries That are Illegally Upgraded to a SL150E

Changes

Customer tries to illegally add more than 9 expansion modules to their SL150 library.

Cause

If a customer illegally tries to add more than 9 expansion modules to their SL150 library they will see that the WWNs for their LTO drives will be invalid and thus might render their LTO drives unusable from their host and backup application software.

The HP LTO drives will most likely show up with the HP vendor WWN instead of the STK vendor WWN and the IBM LTO drives will most likely show up with a WWN of "0" which will render the drives unusable from the host and backup application software.

Solution

The customer should uninstall the expansion modules and if they want a SL150 library with 11 or more modules they will need to purchase a SL150E library.
