Changes

In order to meet the product release date, FRUs for SAS HBA Model 7116970 were stocked to spares with this known issue in firmware version 4.720.00-8219. As a best practice, FRUs are expected to be updated to the latest firmware available upon installation.

Cause

Firmware was only allowing 64 seconds for the HDD to respond with DRIVE_READY in response to Test Unit Ready request issued every two seconds following PWR_GRANT in response to PWR_REQ from the HDD.

Solution

MegaRAID version 6.13.1 with firmware version 4.720.00-8253 or later has been modified from 32 to 64 Test Unit Ready request in order to allow additional time for the HDD to respond with PWR_DONE.

Verify the current firmware version installed on the controller using the firmware update utility included with Oracle Hardware Maintenance Pack.
