Symptoms

A problem is listed under Maintenance > Problems reporting,  "A decrease in PCIe link bandwidth has been detected."

If the Phone Home service is enabled, an Automatic Service Request (ASR) may also be generated with the following summary,

Summary:  Potential performance degradation for the devices associated with this fault.

Fault event description:  A decrease in PCIe link bandwidth has been detected.

 

Cause

These alerts are often due to events outside of the storage appliance.

Events on the SAN can trigger a perceived drop in the bandwidth of a Fibre Channel card.

 

Solution

 Verify that a Fibre Channel card is installed.

Mark the problem as repaired.
