Symptoms

IB switches downgrade firmware from 2.1.8-1 to 2.1.6-2.

Downgrade should preserve the existing configuration. But after the downgrade, the nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf have been deleted.

Changes

IB SWITCH firmware downgrade from 2.1.8-1 to 2.1.6-2.

Cause

This issue was investigated in the following INTERNAL bug.

Bug 24837124 - 12.1.2.3.3 ROLLBACK FROM 2.1.8-1 TO 2.1.6-2 REMOVES NAMESERVER ON IB SWITCH

Some config files like resolv.conf which are missed to be preserved on downgrade from 2.1.8 to 2.1.6.

Solution

The workaround is to manually add nameservers.
