Applies to:

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software - Version 2.0.6.2.0 and later
Exalogic Elastic Cloud X5-2 Quarter Rack - Version X5 to X5 [Release X5]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

During the exapatch prepatch checks for Infiniband Gateway Switch (NM2-GW) patching, the following error was found in the exapatch log:

ERROR: Insufficient free space on /var/log (Found 0 KB; Required 1000 KB)

Cause

This is caused by Bug 25664363 - /var/log/lumain.log not rotated

Solution

Workaround:

On each gateway switch, run the following 2 commands to clear and verify space is now freed up:

# echo > /var/log/lumain.log
# df -kh | grep var

There are only dots and dashes in that log so there is no reason to back up the file.

Solution:

Apply the July 2017 PSU which includes the firmware version 2.2.5-3 for the NM2-GW switch containing a permanent fix.
