Applies to:

Sun StorageTek Auto Cartridge Sys Lib SW (ACSLS) - Version 8.0 to 8.4 [Release 8.0]
Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer installed four new T10KD tape drives in a new SL3000 drive panel.

Customer ran 'config acs 0' in ACSLS and it looks like the new drives were not presented to ACSLS by the LMU.
ACSLS is not able to see nor configure these tape drives even though they can be seen though SLConsole.

When asked to verify the drive details on the SLConsole, the customer said that the new drives did not have any associated HLI address,
as compared to the old drives.

Changes

Customer added a new tape drive panel assembly and four new tape drives to their existing eight tape drives in their SL3000 tape library.

Cause

The customers original eight tape drives are configured to use the HLI interface.

The new four new tape drives were configured to use the FC SCSI interface.

Solution

The customer moved ALL of the installed tape drives, the original eight and the four new T10KD drives, to FC SCSI interface then back to HLI interface using SLConsole.

All of the tape drives were then assigned HLI addresses and all 12 tape drives could then be seen in partition 0.

ACSLS was then able to discover all 12 tape drives after running the  'config acs 0'.  The cmd_proc 'query drive all' command showed all 12 drives.
