Symptoms

Oracle Snap Management Utility (SMU) throws errors after upgrade of ZFSSA to OS8.7.4

Jun 12, 2017 8:34:50 AM com.oracle.smu.server.ExecutableDeleteCommand exec

WARNING: Connecting to the storage failed: storage nas1107 login: Session.connect: java.io.IOException: End of IO Stream Read

SEVERE: task failed

Changes

Upgrade of ZFS Storage Appliance from OS 8.6.8 to OS 8.7.4

Cause

Java incompatibility issue.

Prior to Java 8, Java did not support key sizes greater than 1024 bits for diffie-hellman keys. OS 8.7 SSHD requires keys larger than 1K.

Solution

The only option is to upgrade the system running SMU to Java 8.
