40AC and 40AD informational error codes.

Cause

The tape drive was commanded to read into the End Of Data Marker.

Solution

40AC and 40AD error code is produced when the tape drive is commanded to read into the End Of Data marker. (EOD marker) They are informational and do not indicate that there is a problem with the tape drive. Some applications will read into the EOD marker to verify position before appending further data to the tape. 40AC and 40AD informational error codes can be ignored and do not cause any problem for the job.
