Symptoms

During patching the ODA it is taking a long time to disable ILOM interconnect part of patching 12.1.2.5.0.

The unexpected delay in patching appears to be an issue with during 12.1.2.5.0 patching related to ILOM updates.
Essentially it spends 20-30 extra minutes trying to disable to ILOM interconnect if compared to other patching scenarios on the same or similar ODAs.
This doesn’t happen very frequently but can be seen intermittently.

The patch will eventually complete but take a long time.

Patching ODA to 12.1.2.5.

Cause

root cause is unknown.

Solution

Please consider applying the following POSSIBLE WORKAROUND after performing prudent pre-patching checks including:

1. confirming 10G available per node.
2. 50mb or more for /boot on each node.
3. confirming that the disks are healthy and that oakcli show version -detail is equivalent and update to date (or higher) on each node.
3. resetting the SP ( Service processor / ILOM) on EACH node before patching the ODA if possible.
4. bounce the OS / ODA Node before attempting patching if possible.
