ODA Grid Patching fails with error

ERROR: 2017-02-07 22:59:00: Failed to update OPATCH.
ERROR: 2017-02-07 22:59:00: Failed to patch server (grid) component

Cause

According to known issue and Bug 25416678 : FILE P6880880_121010_LINUX-X86-64.ZIP MISSING AFTER UNPACKING 12.1.2.9 ODA

While unzipping the 12.1.2.9.0 patch file, sometimes it will not unzip file 'p6880880_121010_Linux-x86-64.zip'. It should be present under location

/opt/oracle/oak/pkgrepos/orapkgs/OPATCH/12.1.0.1.0/Patches/6880880/

This error occurs mainly in ODA 12.1.2.9.0 patching.

Solution

Once again unpack the zip file of patch 12.1.2.9.0 (p25064836_121290_Linux-x86-64_1of2.zip & p25064836_121290_Linux-x86-64_2of2.zip)

After this verify if the file got created under location (File name is p6880880_121010_Linux-x86-64.zip)

/opt/oracle/oak/pkgrepos/orapkgs/OPATCH/12.1.0.1.0/Patches/6880880/

If generated continue patching, else repeat this process of unpacking until that file is visible in above location.

Once done restart the ODA patching again.
