Symptoms

After patching Solaris 11, a customer noticed these informational messages in the dmesg output:

Apr 25 18:56:45 domain HBA firmware version does not support snapshots, unable to autostart
[...]
Apr 25 18:56:45 domain HBA firmware version does not support tracing, unable to autostart

Changes

Cause

Parameters enabled in /kernel/drv/mpt.conf created HBA firmware notices.

Solution

The parameters are enabled by default in the /kernel/drv/mpt.conf

# Enable (post) IOC tracebuffer by default
#
shapshot_filename="/var/tmp/IOCsnapshot";
snapshot_autostart;
tracebuffer_filename="/var/tmp/IOCtrace";
tracebuffer_autostart;

Resolution:

These messages are informational only and can be ignored.

To remove the messages, comment the entries out of the /kernel/drv/mpt.conf and then reboot.
