Symptoms


EM monitoring of  Oracle Cloud Control 12c is unable to monitor the ZFS appliance.


Errors seen:




An error occurred calling the metric data service.


Unable to get metric LogicalStatus from agent for target zfs1234c1 sun_storage_7000, root cause: oracle.sysman.emSDK.emd.comm.MetricGetException: Unknown network error has occurred. Please contact the adminstrator.. on UI item OracleZFSUi0...top5ShareChart on page PageActivityDef[homePg]




 


Enterprise Manager version is EM12c,  ZFS plugin in EM is version 12.1.0.6.0


 


Changes


 Upgrading the ZS5-2 to OS8.7 is what triggers the error.


 


Cause


There is an incompatibility between OS8.7 and Oracle Cloud Control 12c.


There is a problem with protocol  -  12c agent does not support TLS 1.1 and 1.2


 


Solution


Support is available from 13c onwards.


 


We have 2 options


    

  1.  Configure the ZFS BUI to accept TLS1.0 connection
    2. 

  2.  Upgrade EM to 13c
    3. 



 


Action plan and fix  for option #1 above:


configuration -> https -> edit SSL/TLS versions and ciphers, check the TLSv1.0 box
