Symptoms

OS8.7 upgrade hangs > Firefox browser session dies.

The customer could not start /SP/console, had no BUI could not get to anything except the ILOM

Changes

Upgrading a ZS3-2 standalone system.

Cause

Upgrading to Appliance Firmware Release OS 8.7 on a ZS3-2.

Solution

NOTE: TSC Engineer just upgraded a ZS3-2 system and experienced the stall at the 'refreshing services' line. Then 'waited this out' and it moved on after about 30 minutes.

From the ILOM CLI run :

stop/SYS -f

Verify the system is powered off with :

show /SYS

Then power on with :

start /SYS

start /SP/console and hit 'enter' .... give it a minute and it should pick up where it left off in the middle of the upgrade somewhere.
