Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 2257213.1 : Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Issues When Modifying a Network Device From NOAM GUI
In this Document
Created from <SR 3-14430339061> Applies to:Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 7.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsSystem is prohibiting the modification of an Ethernet device from "Main Menu -> Configuration -> Devices" Network Operation, Administration & Management (NOAM) menu. User is getting following error message: "You must select a valid Device Type".
Moreover device type selection is prohibited by the system: None of the "Device Type" Radio buttons can be selected in the impacted device menu. CauseIssue is caused by the spelling of the ethernet "Device Type". In fact, the impacted devices are having as type "ETHERNET". However, in "normal working" systems, this device type is "Ethernet". It seems that in a very old version of the DSR software, "ETHERNET" entries were accepted. But at some point (probably starting DSR 7.x releases), we moved to matching the case of the low-level device configuration interface (tpdprovd). There must have been an upgrade path that the impacted machine took and which neglected to adjust this setting in the database. Solution
