Customer was getting write corrective  errors from a particular T10000C drive in SL3000.
Tapes were getting ejected with "end of tape" message but the tapes were not actually FULL .

Symptoms

Getting write corrective errors from a particular T10000C drive in SL3000.

Tapes were getting ejected with "end of tape" message but the tapes were not actually FULL .

Changes

None

Cause

"Maximum capacity" feature was disabled.

How to confirm :
Collect a drive dump from both working and failing drive.
Compare the "maximum capacity" feature status

Solution

Enable the "maximum capacity" feature using MDVOP

- The drive must be offline to make changes to the configuration.
- Ensure that the drive is not running a customer job before taking the drive offline.
- Select the Configure menu item.
- Select the Fibre tab. At the bottom you will see an option for Max Capacity.
- It is defaulted to off. Enable this feature .
- Reboot the drive and make it online for backups .
- Run a test backup and update the status.
