Symptoms

Errors when accessing logs in SL Console:

XML transformation Failed
Read event log failed

This occurs when attempting to read logs and perhaps other outputs accessible via Tools → Reports → Log (and probably other categories)

Exact error in SL Console logs may be similar to this:

18/01/2017 04:18:19 PM FINEST:* Transformer Factory error The reference to entity "K" must end with the ';' delimiter.

Cause

The parser encounters an ampersand ("&") in the raw XML input that is transformed to viewing in SL Console.

This ampersand is interpreted as an entity that typically takes form of:
& -- entity for ampersand
  -- example entity for space character

After the ampersand, however, there is no terminating semi-colon (";") character and this is interpreted as an error by the XML Transformer Factory in Java that is used to format the output for viewing in SL Console screens.

Solution

Upgrade SL Console to the latest version to see if the error still occurs.

Reference <Document 1511569.1> for assistance with downloading the latest SLConsole (currently 6.65, as of Feb 2017)

Make sure that the library is running a recent firmware version.

This ampersand may be an artifact of the client. If upgrading SL Console fails to resolve the issue, retry on a different client to see if this works around this issue.
