Symptoms

  • The following error is observed when running prerequisite checks prior to an upgrade and/or when running cellcli -e alter cell validate configuration.

     CELL-02827: Configuration check for hardware and firmware encountered the following issues:
     Cell configuration check for devices encountered the following issues:

     USB Errors: [ERROR] USB is not fixable. [ERROR] Bootable USB device with wrong size detected.

  • No USB hardware faults are seen in the ILOM Snapshot.

 

Cause

Bad internal USB thumb drive.
 

 

Solution

1.  Collect an ILOM Snapshot from the affected component.   Refer to Doc ID 1674265.1 for instructions.

2.  Collect an SOSReport.  Refer to Doc ID 1901729.1 for instructions.

3.  Open a Service Request with Oracle Support.

4.  Attach the collected ILOM Snapshot and SOSReport to the Service Request.

 

EEST ENGINEERS - Ensure the above is collected and review it for error confirmation.   If the error is confirmed, open a collab SR with the Exadata Hardware team.
