This issue is primarily seen during upgrade to ODA 12.1.2.9.0

Symptoms

Fail to upgrade local disk HDD_LOCAL's firmware during ODA patching 12.1.2.9.0.

Changes

upgrade to 12.1.2.9

Cause

The local disk firmware upgrade failure caused by a known issue and is tracked by BUG 24901967.

Solution

The bug is fixed in version 12.1.2.10, upgrade to 12.1.2.10 can fix this issue.

Ignore this issue as the patching process can be continued and can run ODA 12.1.2.9.0 with the lower HDD_LOCAL firmware, it does not harm anything. Following snippet shows an upgraded ODA at version 12.1.2.9.0 with lower HDD_LOCAL firmware

If customer insists on upgrading the firmware, then it can be done manually using the following steps (at high level, refer SR 3-13907521791 for the steps):

- Copy firmware file from /opt/oracle/oak/pkgrepos/thirdpartypkgs/Firmware/Disk/HITACHI/H109060SESUN600G/A72A/Base to dom0 (both nodes)
- Shutdown repositories
- update the firmware as
fwupdate update disk-firmware -f H109060SE.A72A.fw -n c0d0
fwupdate update disk-firmware -f H109060SE.A72A.fw -n c0d1
- reboot the node

Goal

While patching/upgrading ODA to 12.1.2.9.0, the local disk HDD_LOCAL's firmware does not get updated.
