Applies to:

Sun StorageTek T10000 Tape Drive - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Customer is having a Oracle SL3000 tape library with a combination of T10KD and T10KC tape drives.
They want to create 2 x partition on the library and present them to Networker
1 x partition for the 2 x T10KD drives
1 x partition for the 5 x T10KC drives
The original T10KD partition has been created before and is running fine.

Symptoms

Customer is having a Oracle SL3000 tape library with a combination of T10KD and T10KC tape drives.
They want to create 2 x partition on the library and present them to Networker
1 x partition for the 2 x T10KD drives
1 x partition for the 5 x T10KC drives
The original T10KD partition has been created before and is running fine.
The problem is that after creating the second partition for the T10KC they cannot seem to present it to networker as it thinks the library is already being managed by another storage node. It is using the ww node name to reference the library. The ww node name of the library will not change no matter how many partitions one creates, which makes him think that this may not be possible under networker ( need EMC to confirm).
If they delete the T10KD partition, They are able to create the T10KC partition but not both together under the same data zone. This creates an issue for them as they don’t want to create one partition with both C and D drives due to only having D type media (which C cannot read if labelled by D drives)

Changes

Created 2 partitions

1 x partition for the 2 x T10KD drives
1 x partition for the 5 x T10KC drives

Cause

Unable to create Multiple Partitions In The Same Datazone

Solution

Issue was resolved after running the jbconfig (jukebox resource configuration tool in networker) with option 3 and manually map the drives.

1. Run the jobconfig with option 3 : Configure an Autodetected NDMP SCSI Jukebox.

2. Customer need to enter the path for the drives manually while running this option in the following format

\.Tape0 --for local path or
host:device-path --for remote node or
host:drive-letter:directory path --for Windows disk file
