Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.4.0 to 4.4.0 [Release 4.4]
Big Data Appliance X6-2 Hardware - Version All Versions and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Reimaging BDA X6-2 nodes with the BDA 4.4 Base Image to extend a cluster, causes reimage to go into an endless loop when rebooting from the internal USB.

The last commands seen on the ILOM web console are:

mdadm --wait /dev/md0
mdadm --wait /dev/md2

Cause

The BDA V4.4 Base Image works with X6-2 servers, but dos not handle USB drives with 8015 MB.

This is internal bug:
Bug 25368576 REIMAGING X6 SERVERS ON 4.4.0 GOES INTO ENDLESS LOOP REBOOTING

Solution

1. Download and apply the patch from MOS:
Patch 25368576: REIMAGING X6 SERVERS ON 4.4.0 GOES INTO ENDLESS LOOP REBOOTING

2. Follow README for the steps to apply it for successful reimage.
