Applies to:

Oracle Communications EAGLE (Hardware) - Version EAGLE 3x.x and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The port A of an E5-ENET card is regularly down since several months
Threshold excess at the Ethernet layer is also observed

Cause

There is a hardware issue :

- The card became down at the Ethernet layer 32 x times in 2 days, and the status lasted one or two seconds only.
- Moreover the Ethernet failure recovered after one or two seconds

Conclusion there is an intermittent and transient hardware failure somewhere.
- There are 4 parts involved in the Ethernet connection : the card, the card cable, the card connector, and the port of the switch

=> All of them have to be checked.
