Symptoms

1st Case : Alarm "Sentinel socket is inactive" is observed on several STC cards :

3882.0571 * SLK 2105,A5 stp1 Sentinel socket is inactive
3883.0571 * SLK 2105,A6 stp1 Sentinel socket is inactive
3884.0571 * SLK 2105,A7 stp2 Sentinel socket is inactive
3886.0571 * SLK 2105,A8 stp2 Sentinel socket is inactive
3887.0571 * SLK 2106,A2 stp1 Sentinel socket is inactive
3889.0571 * SLK 2106,A3 stp1 Sentinel socket is inactive
3890.0571 * SLK 2106,A4 stp2 Sentinel socket is inactive
3891.0571 * SLK 2106,A5 stp 2 Sentinel socket is inactive

2nd Case : Alarm "Sentinel socket is inactive" is observed on one card

Cause

1rst case : this ha been triggered by the IMF server becoming down

2nd case : as the IP port B was not getting pinged from the IMF & there were few output queue drops, so looks like the port was hung.

Solution

1rst case :

- Since the IMF server is down then there will get the Sentinel socket Alarm on EAGLE/STP. Hence suggested customer to make the IMF server UP and Running to recover the Sentinel socket Alarm.
- 2 cards remained with the EIS status inactive (rept-stat-card:loc=xxx:mode=full). They finally recovered after a long time.

- move the cable plug-out, plug-in

- or reset the port on switch side
