StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions to All Versions [Release All Releases]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

During boot customer receives.... "glibc detected, /usr/local/bin/ProcessMgr malloc(): memory corruption: 0X09936c08"...

Memory Corruption image

All other operations are impossible as screen is locked at this point.

The screen remains in black and white and no Webgui display is generated.

It is not possible to take the library snapshot.

Changes

 None.

Cause

Memory corruption.

In this instance replacement of the Robot had no effect. Base KLM and it's USB stick replacement enabled the webgui but all options on it were greyed out. A Service Bundle could be taken at this point (as this was 2.60 (this would not be possible on 2.50) ) that showed Fault Code 9093 'Library Serial Number Mismatch'.

Solution

Engage level 2 support.

This problem can be resolved by replacing the Robot, the Base KLM + it's USB stick and the Operator Panel with new components or , preferably, removing these three components individually one by one with intervening reboots and fault finding which component is in error before replacing the faulty component (returning each old component to the library before moving on to the next component). N.b. The memory corruption may affect two or more components in which case it is likely that the Fault Code 9093 'Library Serial Number Mismatch' situation will result during replacement.

At this point TSC Level 2 will need to be engaged to either hold a remote session to correct the device serial numbers or authorise replacement of all three components (Robot, Base and Op panel).
