Symptoms

Systems were shipped configured with the Solaris environment used during factory testing.

i.e.

With hostnames, network configuration, root password, etc... already completed on the HOST side. This will cause an out-of-box host setup issue.

Cause

Factory software installation had post-SWDL customization step ignoring the "sys-unconfig" step. This was propagated to all T5-x, which is obviously was wrong and unintended.

We understand that all T5 systems shipped since July 11, 2016 - November 16, 2016 are affected.

Solution

Before connecting a new SPARC T5 server to the customer network, connect to the Service Processor via serial cable & login to the ILOM as root user (ILOM default password "changeme").

To reset the host
-> start /SP/console
log into the host as root if possible and execute the following:
# pfexec sysconfig unconfigure --destructive
Shutdown the system
Disconnect from the console via #.

If the above is not possible due to default root password on HOST not working then you will need to reinstall Solaris FRESH.

Note: Default root password for the HOST is "solaris" as per "Installing on Bare Metal as a Standalone System" section of http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/servers-storage-admin/o11-112-s11-first-steps-524819.html.

From ILOM:

To reset the Service Processor:
-> set /SP reset_to_defaults="factory"
-> reset -script /SP

Then proceed with the installation in the normal way.
