Symptoms

The RTD (T10000) in maintenance and with cartridge stuck.
By SL8500-SLConsole show message:

Error 1.2.-2.1.4 3955 "Error from device Code: 601 - Drive is loaded", Data=|CDATA|drive 1,2,-2,1,4: rewindUnload FAILED with unitCheck 495E - drive is loaded (cartLabel = SM0008T1, driveType = T10000a, driveFirmware = 1.52.106-5.30)||

After manual dismount:

Error 1.2.-2.1.4 1320 "Drive communication time-out 1,2,-2,1,4"

Error 1.2.-2.1.4 3955 "Error from device Code: 604 - Drive is not functional", Data=|CDATA|drive 1,2,-2,1,4: getState FAILED, resultCode = 6406||

In Drive Display is showing FSC 5132

Cause

Machine Reel Motor problem.

FRU: HARDWARE CONF: 60%
FRU: MEDIA CONF: 40%

During the load sequence, slack in the tape cartridge could not be removed in the allotted time. Tape breakage or a jam within the cartridge is a possibility.


 

Solution

Replaced the tape drive T10000A.
