Symptoms

4909 permanent error.

Cause

RFID defective in the tape media.

Solution

RFID Usage
The RFID information is read from the RFID chip when the tape is loaded and is refreshed when the tape is unloaded. The RFID can also receive updates as the tape is running in the drive. The RFID chip on a T10000 cartridge contains the defect table and other information which is necessary for a tape to be read or written.

Process
It is very likely that the tape with 4909 errors will not come ready.

Customer action Required

If the data on the tape is not available by some other means then a new SR needs to be opened requesting that the FE go onsite and follow the necessary steps to copy the data off of this tape. Mention internal SR 1359444.1 in the new SR.

The tape can be replaced under under the media vendor's warranty.
