Symptoms

In earlyUpgradeChecks.log, following messages are displayed:

ERROR: File /root/bulkconfig need to be corrected!
ERROR: earlyUpgradeChecks() code failed for Upgrade::EarlyPolicy::XMFEarlyChecks
ERROR: Failed running earlyUpgradeChecks() code
ERROR: Early Upgrade Checks Failed!
Early Upgrade Checks finished at 1479318863

Changes

Cause

appserver line is missing.

This was the content of the bullkconfig within the restored file:

host,pmfip,PMF,0A,eth01,X.X.X.X,M.M.M.M,G.G.G.G

ntp,ntpserver2,X.X.X.X
app,appserver2,X.X.X.X

Solution

Re-install TPD and restart the upgrade with a valid bulkconfig file.

Create the file manually instead of restoring the backup.
