Symptoms

When you are attaching the XSCF snapshot data file to your My Oracle Support (MOS) Service Request (SR), you might see the following update in your SR:

An executable file was detected in your uploaded file <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip. For security reasons, Oracle does not accept executable files. Therefore, file <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip has been deleted from our systems. Please remove all executable files from your upload bundle and resubmit. You can find additional information on our Oracle's file management practices at https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=1227943.1

Changes

Cause

If you see the message listed above in your SR, most likely the files snapshot_merge.sh and snapshot_merge.bat, which are contained inside the zip file,  are preventing a successful upload of  your <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip file. The offending files are present in all XCP versions up to, and including, XCP2330.

Solution

Upgrade to XCP2331 or newer.

Until you are able to upgrade your XSCF to XCP2331 or newer, please proceed as follows to remove both snapshot_merge.sh and snapshot_merge.bat from your <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip file:

..../test:1050] zip -vT <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip
Archive: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip
testing: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/README OK
testing: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/snapshot_merge.sh OK
testing: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/snapshot_merge.bat OK
testing: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/BB#00_<hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-12.zip OK
testing: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/BB#00.log OK
No errors detected in compressed data of <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip.
test of <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip OK
..../test:1051] zip -d <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/snapshot_merge.sh
deleting: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/snapshot_merge.sh
..../test:1052] zip -d <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/snapshot_merge.bat
deleting: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/snapshot_merge.bat
..../test:1054] zip -vT <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip
Archive: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip
testing: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/README OK
testing: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/BB#00_<hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-12.zip OK
testing: <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11/BB#00.log OK
No errors detected in compressed data of <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip.
test of <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip OK
..../test:1055]

Now you should be able to successfully upload your <hostname_ip-address>_2016-11-11T11-11-11.zip file.
