SymptomsRemote access and ping to Cisco 4948E switch is not working. Local subnet access and ping to the Cisco 4948 switch is working. CauseThe wrong default gateway IP is configured on the Cisco as seen in the cisco#show running-config SolutionConnect to the Cisco 4948 switch from a local system such as a DBnode in the same rack and modify the default gateway setting. Example: db01#ssh admin@10.140.140.8 Switch>enable Now check that it works as expected before saving the running configuration. Switch#ping 10.140.140.1 <-----------------Ping default router from IOS CLI Connect from a system that is not on the 10.140.140.0 network
Switch#writ memory <----------Save the running configuration with new default router after confirming that this works as expected.
