Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 7.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When trying to connect to the Platform Management & Configuration (PM&C) Graphical User Interface (GUI) using Internet Explorer 8, the browser fails to connect to the PM&C login screen and instead reports the default message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."

Changes

The site just upgraded to the DSR 7.2. Connecting to the PM&C prior to the upgrade worked in IE8, and continues to work for most other browsers.

Cause

As of DSR 7.2, the PM&C no longer will allow browser connections using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).  The only supported encryption is Transport Socket Layer (TLS).  The other DSR GUIs are not yet limited to TLS so will continue to work with DSR 7.2.

Solution

The resolution for this condition is to change the Internet Explorer encryption options away from SSL and to instead use TLS.  Steps to do this follow.

  1. Open the Internet Explorer browser.
  2. Navigate to Tools / Internet Options.
  3. In the Internet Options subscreen, go to the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the Security section, uncheck "Use SSL 2.0" and "Use SSL 3.0"
  4. Check all three "Use TLS" options - v1.0, v1.1, and v1.2.
  5. Select OK at the bottom of the subscreen,
  6. Exit and re-launch the IE8 browser.
