Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 2197926.1 : SL8500 - Service Required LED on After Installing FRS-8.51 Code
In this Document
Applies to:Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System - Version All Versions and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SymptomsSL8500 Service Required LED on after installing FRS-8.51 Code. After the code upgrade some sites have reported that the Library is functional but the Service Required LED is on and the library status is "amber" in the SLConsole tree. ChangesInstalling FRS-8.51 Code. CauseThis may be due to an internal network issue. FRS-8.51 checks the state of the internal networks. This problem can be caused if Redundant Electronics was installed at an earlier time and the HBZ-1B and/or HBZ-2B cables were inadvertently left unplugged. The newer firmware versions will detect this and turn on the Service Required light. The library is functional because it is still using the "A" network as before but now reporting that the "B" network is down. This can be confirmed in the "Tools -> System Detail -> Status -> Internal Networks. After plugging in the cables the Service Required indicator went off and the tree turned to "green". You may need to logoff/logon to the SLConsole to clear the "last state" amber indicator in the lower right corner. Conversely, on machines with non-Redundant Electronics, do not install the "B" network cables into the single switch in the rear top right corner of the SL8500. This will also cause issues and the "A" & "B" network paths may shuttle back and forth in the SLConsole display. SolutionThese are not FRS-8.51 problems, they are only this code version's ability to report the pre-existing conditions. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
