Symptoms

IBM LTO7 Drivers for Windows 2008

Cause

IBM has decided to only supply drivers for the IBM LTO7 drives on Windows 2012 and Windows 2016.

They will not supply drivers for the other windows OS's such as Windows 7, 8, or 10, 2003 or 2008.

Solution

If a customer is running an OS that IBM doesn't supply a driver for the IBM LTO7 drive then the customer will need to go to their backup application vendor to get a driver from them for their IBM LTO7 drives.

Oracle doesn't supply drivers for Windows for the IBM LTO drives so we rely on the drivers that IBM releases for their drives.

Some customers have had success running the default Windows IBM LTO driver that comes bundled with Windows for their IBM LTO7 drives.
