Symptoms

SNMP community have been reset to the default public after upgrade to 2013.1.4.0.

Changes

Upgrade from 2013.1.1.7 IDR #1.1 to 2013.1.4.0.

Cause

SNMP has been enhanced to support SNMPv3 from Appliance Firmware Release version 2013.1.2.0 onwards.

This caused the SNMP community string to reset back to public.

Prior to Appliance Firmware Release version 2013.1.2.0, SNMP configuration is as follow :

lbl:> configuration services snmp ls
Properties:
<status> = online
community = snmp_string
network = 10.0.0.0/24
syscontact = admin
trapsinks = 127.0.0.1

Upgraded Appliance Firmware Release version to 2013.1.4.2 :

lbl:> configuration services snmp ls
Properties:
<status> = online
version = v1/2c
community = public
network = 10.0.0.0/24
syscontact = admin
username =
password =
authentication = MD5
privacy = None
trapsinks = 127.0.0.1
engineid = 0x80001f8880fae83d7ae174cf5700000000

Solution

Check/confirm the  SNMP configuration after Appliance Firmware Release upgrade.
