Symptoms

Server is not starting


Changes

Configuring HugePages

Cause

Huge page value set to high number resulting in kernel panic
  

Solution

Log in as single user mode and restored the old value of vm.nr_hugepages
 

At Exadata booting
1. Press space key
2. Splash screen will display
3. Give password by pressing P
4. Edit the Second line by pressing e
at the end of num insert 1 init=/bin/bash and press
5. Open the console host using putty
a. login to putty session of ILOM
b. start /SP/Console
c. mount -o remount,rw /
6. /etc/sysctl.conf
Remove the commented value
Remove the recently changed huge page setting
7. sysctl -p

Restart the Node
